Wicklow inshore lifeboat was launched at 3.40pm on Sunday afternoon (20 August) to assist Wicklow Ambulance Service with the medical evacuation of an injured sailor.

The sailor required medical attention having sustained injuries while sailing in the bay. The RNLI inshore lifeboat crew transferred the casualty from the yacht at the East pier to the nearby slip, to be met by a waiting Ambulance crew.
Once the casualty was transferred into the care of the Paramedics, the lifeboat crew returned to station.
The crew on the callout were Helm David O’ Leary, Graham Fitzgerald and John Stapleton.
