Wicklow RNLI all-weather Tyne class lifeboat Annie Blaker, launched shortly after 8am on Thursday morning (22 February) to assist a whelk trawler with engine failure in Wicklow bay.

The lifeboat crew on their first callout of 2018, located the thirteen-metre whelk fishing boat drifting towards shore about two miles north of Wicklow harbour.
A towline was quickly established and the fishing vessel with three crew was towed back to Wicklow harbour and secured safely alongside the South quay.
Weather conditions on scene were described as wind south westerly force two with good visibility.
The crew on the callout were Coxswain Nick Keogh, Mechanic Brendan Copeland, Ciaran Doyle, Tommy McAulay, Terry Sillery, Carol Flahive and Graham Fitzgerald.
