Arklow Rover Shout
Arklow Lifeboat launched on Friday 4th November to attend to a man that had fallen down a companionway aboard the Merchant Vessel Arklow Rover en route from Belfast to London. The ship owned by Arklow Shipping was approximately 10 miles south east of Arklow when the accident happened.
Crew members Dr. Siobhan Mc Cabe and Eddie Mc Elheron boarded the ship to treat the casualty. The man had a severe head laceration, lower leg injury and bad bruising down one side. The casualty was immobilised by the lifeboat crew until the Waterford based Helicopter Rescue 117 attended for immediate transport to Waterford General Hospital. The casualty was airlifted and both lifeboat crew members returned to the lifeboat and proceeded back to Arklow.
Irishlifeboats would like to thank Mark Corcoran, Brendan Dillon and Martin O'Boyle of the Arklow RNLI for allowing the use of the photographs.
