About Irish Lifeboats
Irish Lifeboats was founded in 2009 by Pat Nolan. With a long-standing interest in maritime rescue services, Pat created the website as an independent resource dedicated to documenting and promoting the work of the RNLI, Irish Coast Guard, Community Rescue Boats Ireland and other rescue organisations around Ireland
Why This Site Exists
Irish Lifeboats was created to provide a central source of news and information about Ireland’s lifeboat and maritime rescue services.
Over time, the site expanded to include the RNLI, Irish Coast Guard, Community Rescue Boats Ireland and independent rescue organisations operating around the Irish coastline and inland waterways.
The aim is simple: to highlight the work of the crews, volunteers and organisations who respond when people get into difficulty on the water.
Independent & Unofficial
Irish Lifeboats is an independent website and is not affiliated with the RNLI, Irish Coast Guard, CRBI or any rescue organisation featured on the site.
The website exists purely to share information, highlight rescues and support awareness of maritime safety and rescue services in Ireland.
All content is published with respect for the organisations, volunteers and communities involved.
What You’ll Find Here
• Rescue news and call-outs
• Lifeboat station information
• Fleet and vessel information
• Maritime safety campaigns
• Community rescue organisations
• Historical and operational information
• Volunteer and crew stories
• Coverage from around the Irish coastline and inland waterways
The goal is to provide accurate, up-to-date and accessible information for anyone interested in Ireland’s maritime rescue services.
Acknowledging the Crews
Every launch represents volunteers and professionals willing to respond in difficult and often dangerous conditions.
Irish Lifeboats exists to recognise and share the work carried out by these rescue services every day around Ireland.
To all who launch, serve and support — thank you.
Supporting Awareness
By sharing information, rescues and stories from around the country, Irish Lifeboats hopes to promote awareness of maritime safety and the important role these organisations play within coastal and inland communities.
The site also aims to encourage appreciation and support for the volunteers and professionals who dedicate their time to saving lives on the water.
Irish Lifeboats is independently operated and maintained voluntarily. Thank you to everyone who follows, shares and supports this resource.
