The volunteer crew quickly responded to the pager alert arriving at the boathouse to prepare the D-class lifeboat for launch.

Further information was then relayed that one person with the jet ski was attempting to swim to Cahore pier but was struggling to make headway while the second person remained with the jet ski.

The lifeboat was launched and immediately made its way to the casualty in the water. The casualty was taken into the lifeboat.

Once assessed by the crew that no medical attention was required the life boat made its way to the second casualty aboard the jet ski that was adrift. Both casualties were wearing life jackets.

A tow was then set up to recover the jet ski to the slip. Both casualties and the jet ski were handed over to awaiting family members at the pier who were all very thankful for the rescue efforts.

The life boat returned to station where it was prepared for next launch.

Remember, if you see someone in trouble close to or in the water, call 112 / 999 and ask for the Coast Guard.

Cahore Inshore Rescue Service are currently raising funds for a new lifeboat as the current D class lifeboat is nearing the end of operational life. To donate: https://www.gofundme.com/f/float-for-a-boat-raising-funds-for-cahores-new-lifeboat
