Castletownbere RNLI responds to fishing boat aground in Dunmanus Bay

Castletownbere RNLI was launched on Thursday afternoon, 13 August, to assist a 30-foot fishing vessel which had gone aground on the northern shore of Dunmanus Bay.
The Castletownbere lifeboat was requested to launch at 4.04pm, with coxswain Joe O'Sullivan in command. He was joined on the callout by mechanic Marney O'Donoghue and crew members Seamus Harrington, Dave O'Donovan, Martin Cronin, Sean O'Sullivan and Jarred Bayer.
As the lifeboat made its way towards the casualty, a local fishing boat arrived and provided assistance to the vessel.
With assistance being provided, the Castletownbere lifeboat was stood down and returned to station.
The volunteer crew were back at Castletownbere RNLI station following the short callout.
The RNLI reminds all boat users to check the weather and tides before heading out, carry appropriate safety equipment and make sure everyone onboard knows what to do in an emergency.
