Ballycotton RNLI was involved in a multi-agency rescue operation off the Waterford coast yesterday, Tuesday 11 August, after a report that a person had suffered a shark bite while on board a pleasure craft.

BFRRS was activated on Tuesday evening following reports of a person entering the water at Brú on the River Boyne. Gardaí were already on scene as rescue crews responded alongside Drogheda Coast Guard and other emergency services.

Clogherhead RNLI launched to assist a fishing trawler that was taking on water just half a nautical mile east of the station, with the casualty and vessel brought safely to Port Oriel.
