Volunteer crew members from the Courtmacsherry RNLI launched twice within hours on Sunday afternoon after separate reports of swimmers getting into difficulty off the West Cork coast during blustery offshore conditions.

Crosshaven RNLI was tasked as part of a multi agency search instigated by the Coast Guard after a distress flare was seen off the coast at Trabolgan.

A multi-agency rescue effort was launched in response to reports of a person entering the water south of Killaloe Bridge.
