Howth RNLI volunteer George Duffy has been recognised by the charity with a 50-year Long Service Award for his efforts in helping to save lives at sea.

Howth RNLI launched their all-weather lifeboat to assist two sailors on a 42ft French yacht that had suffered engine failure approximately four miles North East of Howth.

The volunteer crew of Howth RNLI launched their inshore lifeboat yesterday afternoon (19 June) just before 4:30pm, to reports of three children cut off by the tide near Lion’s Head – a popular swimming spot on the south side of the Howth peninsula, close to the Bailey Lighthouse.
