A swimmer was assisted to safety by the Inchydoney Lifeboat crew on Thursday evening after getting into difficulty while attempting to return from the sandbank through the western channel at Inchydoney Beach.

RNLI lifeguards at Cranfield Point carried out two swift rescues after strong south-westerly offshore winds swept three paddleboarders into difficulty.

Newcastle RNLI, supported by RNLI lifeguards patrolling Tyrella Beach, rescued two people and a dog after they became stranded on an inflatable that drifted out to sea off the County Down coast.

A coordinated response by the Inchydoney Inshore Lifeboat Association and Cork County Council Beachguards safely returned an experienced kite surfer to Inchydoney Beach after changing sea conditions forced him ashore away from his launch point. The operation reunited him with his concerned family and highlighted the close partnership between lifeguards and the volunteer lifeboat crew.

Achill Island RNLI were requested by the Irish Coast Guard as part of a multi-agency operation to go to the aid of a man on board a small boat which was taking on water and was sinking close to Old Head.

On Saturday last (9 August), RNLI lifeguards at Portrush East Strand rescued 11 people who were caught in a flash rip current.
