In an early morning callout, volunteer lifeboat crews from both Arklow and Rosslare Harbour RNLI stations answered an urgent call for help after a 24-foot yacht got into difficulty off the Wicklow coast.

Arklow’s RNLI lifeboat station is marking a remarkable milestone in 2026, its 200th anniversary of lifesaving service, and one local woman is once again going the distance to support it.

The volunteers at Wicklow RNLI lifeboat station responded to three call outs in less than 24 hours at the weekend.

Arklow RNLI will open its doors for it's annual station open day on Sunday 3 August from 12:30-5:30pm. All are welcome to attend for a fun-filled day out for all the family.

Arklow RNLI’s new all-weather lifeboat, RNLB Roy Holloway, was launched following a Coast Guard pager alert reporting the activation of an EPIRB (Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacon) in the Arklow area.

The volunteer crew at Arklow lifeboat station were requested to launch to go to the assistance of a 10-meter fishing vessel, which had become disabled approximately 7 nautical miles southeast of Arklow Harbour.

Arklow RNLI hosted a special ceremony on Saturday (21 June) for the naming of the new €3.1M All-Weather Shannon Class Lifeboat.
