Boyne Fishermen’s Rescue and Recovery was tasked as part of a multi-agency response to a missing person incident, after concerns were raised that a person may have entered the water.

Drogheda Coast Guard Unit was tasked this afternoon to assist a small vessel that became stranded and lost power on the River Boyne during a full flood tide.

Boyne Fishermans Rescue and Recovery received a call reporting a dog swimming in the river near the Viaduct Bridge area. The dog’s owner was understandably distressed, fearing the dog would become exhausted and get into difficulty in the middle of the river.

It has been a busy 24 hours for Drogheda Coast Guard, with volunteers responding to two separate incidents in the Drogheda area involving concerns for people near the River Boyne.

Drogheda Coast Guard Unit were tasked by the Marine Rescue Coordination Centre following a report from An Garda Síochána about a person in distress in the water near De Lacy Bridge.
