Lough Derg RNLI launched this afternoon to assist two people after their 36ft motor cruiser ran aground south of the Goat Road on Lough Derg.

Lough Derg RNLI volunteers were tasked by Valentia Coast Guard to assist a 32ft motor cruiser that had suffered engine failure north of Illaunmore. The lifeboat crew launched promptly and made their way to the vessel, where five people were on board.

Lough Derg RNLI volunteers launched on Friday evening after a 35ft motor cruiser with four people on board suffered engine failure near Terryglass Harbour. With squally Force 4 to 5 winds and the vessel anchored close to a busy navigation route, the lifeboat crew assessed the situation and prepared to assist.

Lough Derg RNLI is celebrating two significant achievements following successful assessments completed by volunteer crew member Paraic Slattery and Lifeboat Press Officer Eleanor Hooker.
