Multi-Agency Response to Missing Person Incident on the Boyne

DROGHEDA, Co Louth - Boyne Fishermen’s Rescue and Recovery was tasked as part of a multi-agency response to a missing person incident on Wednesday, 4 June, after concerns were raised that a person may have entered the water.

The service's paging system was activated at 4:08pm and an inshore rescue boat was launched immediately. Mobile units were also deployed to assist with search operations at a number of locations.
A short time later, a person was recovered from the water by BFRRS boat crews and brought back to the station for medical assessment.
Drogheda Gardaí, the National Ambulance Service and the 24-Hour Doctor on Call Service attended the scene. Sadly, the person was pronounced deceased. The deceased was subsequently placed into the care of the Coroner’s Assistant, P. Townley & Sons.
In a statement following the operation, the Boyne Fishermen’s Rescue and Recovery Service extended its deepest sympathies and condolences to the family and friends of the deceased during this difficult time.
