The volunteer lifeboat crew were requested to launch their inshore lifeboat at 9.04am and quickly made their way to the scene.

The lifeboat was helmed by Jack Nolan, with volunteer crew members Liam Keogh and Eddie Hennessy on board.

On arrival, the crew observed that the casualty was already receiving medical attention from paramedics with the National Ambulance Service and members of Youghal and Ardmore Fire Brigade, who were among the first emergency services at the scene. An Garda Síochána and Youghal and Ardmore Coast Guard also responded to the incident.

Working alongside their colleagues in the other emergency services, the lifeboat crew safely transferred the casualty onto the lifeboat, accompanied by a paramedic. They were then brought back to Youghal RNLI station, where they were safely transferred into the care of a waiting air ambulance crew and subsequently transported to hospital.

Speaking following the call-out, John Innes, Youghal RNLI Launch Authority, said:

“We want to wish the casualty a speedy recovery following their accident this morning. We also want to thank and commend our colleagues in the various emergency services who responded. This call-out was a great example of teamwork and collaboration, with all involved putting their skills and training into practice to bring someone to safety.”
