Tuesday 13 October 2026
Ballyglass RNLI Inshore Lifeboat was tasked at 6.37 pm on Monday, 12 October, following a report of a motor boat experiencing engine difficulties approximately half a mile south of Ballyglass Pier.

Conditions at sea were challenging as the volunteer crew launched and proceeded to the reported location.
On arrival at the scene, the crew assessed the situation and a decision was made to tow the vessel to the safe harbour of Ballyglass.
The motor boat was safely brought into harbour and secured on a mooring. With the vessel made safe, the Inshore Lifeboat returned to station for recovery.
Following the call-out, the lifeboat was refuelled and made ready for service again at 7.56 pm.
The volunteer crew on this service were:
Helm: PJ Walker, Navigator: Patrick Coyne, Crew: Kyle Geraghty
Ballyglass RNLI would like to thank all the volunteer crew and shore crew involved in this service for their time and commitment in ensuring the lifeboat was ready for the next call-out.
The RNLI reminds all boat users of the importance of carrying out pre-departure checks, ensuring engines are properly maintained and that sufficient fuel is available for the planned journey.
Always check the weather and sea conditions before heading out, carry appropriate lifejackets for everyone on board and ensure you have a reliable means of calling for help, such as a fully charged mobile phone in a waterproof pouch and a marine VHF radio.
If you experience engine difficulties or find yourself in trouble at sea, call for assistance without delay. In an emergency, contact the Coast Guard on VHF Channel 16 or by dialling 999 or 112 and asking for the Coast Guard.
