Boyne Fisherman's Rescue and Recovery tasked to reports of a person in distress at Sunshine Bar

On Sunday, 26 October, at approximately 11:30 a.m., the Boyne Fisherman's Rescue and Recovery emergency pager crew was activated to respond to reports of a person in distress at Sunshine Bar. The swift and coordinated response that followed ensured a positive outcome in a potentially dangerous situation.

Security personnel at Scotch Hall first observed the individual in distress. As they approached to offer assistance, the person moved towards Fiddle Case Pier, eventually entering the water. Thanks to the quick and decisive actions of the Scotch Hall Shopping Centre security team, the individual was successfully extracted from the water at a nearby exit point.
Shortly after the individual was rescued from the water, the Boyne Fisherman's Rescue mobile unit and inshore rescue boat arrived on the scene to assist with further casualty care. The seamless handover to the National Ambulance Service ensured the individual received the necessary medical attention promptly.
The incident also received support from the Garda Regional Armed Support Unit, whose members happened to be in the vicinity. Their presence highlighting the importance of inter-agency cooperation.
The Scotch Hall security team deserves special recognition for their prompt and effective response. Their actions were undoubtedly influenced by the training they completed last year with the Boyne Fisherman's Rescue and Recovery teams.
