Clifden RNLI assist Fisherman off the Connemara shore

Volunteers at Clifden RNLI lifeboat station were tasked shortly after 3pm (Monday 28 July) to assist a fisherman in difficulty off the Connemara shore.
Both of Clifden's lifeboats were tasked to the fishing boat with two onboard that was suffering engine trouble just off Aughris Point, near Cleggan, County Galway.
Clifden's Shannon class all weather lifeboat St Christopher was launched under the command of volunteer Coxswain Alan Pryce, while the Atlantic 85 inshore lifeboat was helmed by Kenny Flaherty. Sea conditions at the time were calm.
When the volunteer lifeboat crew came on the scene the fisherman was able to restore power and make his own way onwards.
Clifden RNLI Helm Kenny Flaherty said; 'Happily the fisherman was able to make safe progress today but even the most experienced seafarers can find themselves needing assistance sometimes. In those circumstances, every moment matters. Please never delay in calling 999 or 112 and asking for the Coast Guard, in Clifden RNLI we are ready to respond 24/7.'
