Crosshaven RNLI bring four people to safety after pleasure craft suffers mechanical failure

Crosshaven RNLI volunteers were requested to launch at approximately 4pm this evening following a report of an 8.5-metre Merry Fisher disabled near No. 20 buoy in the Cobh Roads shipping channel.
The volunteer lifeboat crew of David Venner, Conor Barry, Kline Pennefather and Darren O'Keeffe launched and proceeded to the reported location.
The lifeboat located the casualty vessel, which had four people on board, and established a tow. The vessel was safely escorted to Crosshaven Boatyard, where the four people were brought safely ashore.
The lifeboat and crew then returned to Crosshaven RNLI station. The lifeboat was refuelled and washed down before the necessary checks were completed and the vessel was declared ready for service again at 6.20pm.
The shore crew assisting with the launch were Kevin McCarthy, Michael Livingstone, Aidan O'Connor, Hugh Mockler, Alan Venner and Jon McClean.

Crosshaven RNLI reminds all boat users to ensure their vessels are properly maintained and that appropriate safety equipment is carried and readily accessible before going to sea.
