Marine apparel and safety equipment manufacturer Helly Hansen has announced a recall of several lifejacket and buoyancy aid models sold in Ireland after identifying manufacturing defects that could compromise buoyancy performance and increase the risk of drowning.

The company stated that the affected products do not meet applicable certified safety standards due to product manufacturing failures. No incidents or injuries have been reported in connection with the recall.

Helly Hansen is urging customers to stop using the recalled products immediately.


According to the company, owners of affected equipment should either destroy the product in accordance with the manufacturer's destruction instructions and submit photographic evidence to the company, or contact Helly Hansen to arrange a return. Following verification, customers will be offered either a refund or online store credit.


"Safety is our highest priority," the company said in its recall notice, emphasizing the importance of removing the affected products from service without delay.


The recalled products can be identified by checking the style number, size and serial number located on the waist sew-in label.


Helly Hansen Customer Care is available Monday to Friday from 10:00 to 18:00 CET to assist affected customers. The company has established a dedicated recall email address, recall@hellyhansen.com, for inquiries and claims related to the recall.
