Lough Neagh Rescue was tasked by Belfast Coastguard at 11:01am on Thursday, 9 April, following reports of a person in the water after an inflatable kayak capsized.

Conditions on the lough were difficult at the time, with a strong westerly breeze creating choppy and hazardous waters. In response, lifeboat crews were quickly deployed and made their way to the reported location.
Upon arrival, rescuers located the casualty clinging to the side of the overturned kayak. Acting swiftly, the crew recovered the individual from the water and transported them safely ashore at Sandy Bay Marina.
Following the successful rescue, the lifeboats returned to base and were prepared for any further taskings.
If you see someone in difficulty on or near the water, please dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard.
