On Sunday morning, January 25th, while engaged in a routine exercise, Lough Swilly's All-Weather Lifeboat was tasked by Malin Head Coast Guard Radio following a report that a boat was missing from its moorings at Port Salon Pier.

A concerned member of the public had reported that a boat was missing and the lifeboat crew promptly responded to the call.

The volunteer crew arrived quickly at the scene. Their initial task was to assess the situation and determine the status of the missing vessel.

After recovering the engine cover from the vessel, it was determined that the boat had sunk. With this new information, Malin Head Coast Guard Radio then stood the lifeboat crew down. With no further immediate action required, the crew resumed their planned morning exercise.

Remember, if you are in difficulty in or on the water, or see someone in trouble, dial 999 or 112 and ask for the Coast Guard.
