Achill Island Coast Guard tasked for medivac from Inishbiggle Island

At 5:53pm on Friday 29 August, the volunteers of the Achill Island Coast Guard unit were tasked by the Rescue Coordination Centre in Malin Head to assist the National Ambulance Service with a medical emergency on Inishbiggle Island.

Two teams, including shore crew at Doran’s Point, were deployed, and the units D-Class inshore lifeboat was launched from Bullsmouth Pier.
Paramedics were safely transferred from Doran’s Point to Inishbiggle Island, where they provided care before the casualty was brought back to the mainland and transferred to hospital.
Rescue 118 were also tasked but were stood down shortly after. Coast Guard crews were stood down at 7:30pm.
