WATERFORD CITY, Co Waterford - A multi-agency emergency response was launched in Waterford City early on Friday morning after reports of a person threatening to enter the water.

The incident prompted the mobilisation of Waterford City River Rescue, Waterford City Fire Service, the National Ambulance Service, and An Garda Síochána.
According to Waterford City River Rescue, the situation was successfully resolved through the intervention of members of An Garda Síochána, bringing the incident to a safe conclusion.
In a statement following the callout, the rescue organisation thanked all agencies involved in the response, as well as the Marine Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC), which coordinated the operation.
"We wish the person involved a speedy recovery," the organisation said.
The incident highlights the importance of rapid reporting when concerns arise around waterways. Waterford City River Rescue reiterated its appeal to the public to contact the emergency services immediately if they witness anyone in difficulty on rivers, lakes, or along the coast.
Members of the public are urged to call 999 or 112 and ask for the Irish Coast Guard, which will coordinate and dispatch the appropriate emergency resources to the scene.
Rescue personnel also stressed that people should never assume that someone else has already raised the alarm, as early notification can be critical in ensuring a swift and effective response.
