The request for help was received at 8.42am on Friday, 22 May, with the crew at Fethard RNLI tasked to respond to the incident. The vessel had reported difficulty after a rope became entangled in its propeller, leaving it temporarily disabled on the water.

The Fethard RNLI inshore lifeboat launched shortly afterwards and made its way toward the casualty vessel. However, while en route, crew members were informed that those onboard had successfully managed to clear the rope from the propeller and were able to continue their journey safely without further assistance.

Following the update, the lifeboat stood down and returned to station.

The incident serves as another reminder of the importance of carrying reliable means of communication when heading afloat. Boaters are advised to always have a way to call for help in an emergency, either by using VHF Channel 16 or by calling 112 and asking for the Coast Guard.
