Killaloe Coast Guard unit tasked to assist two persons on board a 29 foot cruiser with engine difficulty

On Saturday afternoon, 8 November, the Killaloe Coast Guard unit responded to a call for assistance at 12:35 pm. The call was from a 29-foot cruiser experiencing engine difficulties near Gortmore Point, close to Terryglass Harbour on the northern end of Lough Derg.

At 12:45 pm, a Coast Guard boat crew launched from Pier Head, Killaloe. They navigated towards Terryglass, in southerly winds with forces ranging from 3 to 4.


By 1:10 PM, the Coast Guard crew reached the casualty vessel. A member of the Coast Guard was transferred on board to assess the situation and ensure the safety of the occupants. Fortunately, the two individuals on the cruiser were found to be safe and in good health.


The Coast Guard then proceeded to take the vessel under tow. By 1:45 pm, the cruiser was safely moored back at Terryglass Harbour, concluding the rescue operation successfully without any injuries or further complications.
