The volunteer lifeboat crew at Lough Swilly RNLI launched their Atlantic 85 Inshore Lifeboat on Wednesday afternoon (25 June) to assist a lone fisherman whose small craft had developed engine trouble.

The crew was paged and the inshore lifeboat was launched and was at the scene within a few minutes.
The crew assessed the situation and a decision was made to attach a tow rope and take the boat to the safety of Rathmullan Pier.
Following this the volunteer lifeboat crew then returned to the lifeboat station, refuelled and made ready for service.
Remember if you're in difficulty in or on the water or see someone in trouble, dial 999 or 112 and ask for the Coast Guard.
