The inshore lifeboat launched into rough sea states and arrived on scene to find 2 people on a kayak and one other on a surf board.

After a quick discussion between the helm and casualty’s in the water it was determined that no assistance was required as they were just enjoying the rough sea conditions.

The lifeboat then returned to station, and was refuelled and ready for next service by 8.20pm.

Newcastle Coastguard and Kilkeel coastguard team maintained a watchful eye over the casualty’s until they safely arrived on the beach.

Speaking after the call, helm Locky Leneghan said “ We would like to thank the member of the public who done the right thing by contacting the coastguard, we would rather be called out and not needed than it be left too late.
