The Coastguard requested the launch at 12.28pm, with the ILB The Ken Blair launching at 12.40pm. The volunteer crew arrived on scene five minutes later at 12.45pm.

Weather conditions at the time were described as ideal, with clear skies, a light southerly wind and excellent visibility.

Upon arrival, the RNLI crew found the two kayakers in the water alongside their kayaks. Both casualties and their craft were taken aboard the ILB before being safely transported back to Portrush Harbour, where they were handed over to the Coastguard.

The ILB returned to station at 12.50pm where it was refuelled and made ready for the next callout.
