Sligo Bay RNLI tasked to a teenager surfer in difficulty off Strandhill

At 8:58pm on Saturday 6 September, the volunteer crew at Sligo Bay lifeboat station were tasked by the Coast Guard to go to the aid of a teenager surfer reported to be in difficulty off Strandhill

Volunteers quickly arrived at the station and prepared to launch. As the lifeboat was about to launch with four volunteer crew on board, they were stood down by the Coast Guard as the surfer that made it to shore safely.


A spokesperson for Sligo Bay RNLI said:

"Please remember our volunteer crew are on standby 24/7 , 366 days a year. So if you see someone in danger, don't hesitate to call 999/112 and ask for the Coast Guard - every second counts".
