Waterford City River Rescue CRBI crews were tasked by the Irish Coast Guard this morning (Sunday 24 May) to assist a vessel that had suffered engine failure in local waters.

Following coordination by the Marine Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC), rescue crews responded promptly to the incident and successfully placed the vessel under tow. The casualty vessel was subsequently brought safely to Waterford Marina without further incident.
The operation demonstrated the close cooperation between Waterford City River Rescue, the Irish Coast Guard, and all agencies involved in ensuring maritime safety on local waterways.
A spokesperson thanked everyone involved in the response, as well as the MRCC for coordinating the incident.
The organisation also used the opportunity to reiterate the importance of making an early call to the emergency services during any water-related incident.
Members of the public are reminded that if they see anyone in difficulty on lakes, rivers, or along the coast, they should immediately call 999 or 112 and ask for the Irish Coast Guard. This ensures the appropriate emergency services can be dispatched promptly to the scene.
Waterford City River Rescue further stressed that people should never assume somebody else has already made the call.
