At 7:17 am on Thursday 19 February, the volunteer crew at Arranmore RNLI were tasked by Malin Head Coast Guard to assist in a medical evacuation from the island.

The casualty was transferred from the Arranmore ambulance to the lifeboat. On arrival at Burtonport, the patient was transferred to a waiting ambulance and then on to Letterkenny University Hospital for assessment.
Coxswain Kieran O’Donnell said ‘On behalf of the crew I would like to wish the patient a speedy recovery. I would also like to thank our crew for getting out of bed early in the morning to help a fellow islander in time of need. As an emergency service we are on call every day of the year and ready to launch at a moments notice.’
Remember if you see someone in difficulty please call 112/999 and ask for Coast Guard.
