Castletownbere RNLI lifeboat was called out on Friday afternoon after a local fishing vessel developed mechanical difficulties approximately one mile south-west of Castletownbere harbour mouth.

The lifeboat was tasked at 4.02pm following a report that the 20-metre fishing boat was experiencing mechanical problems.
Nine minutes later, the lifeboat launched under the command of Coxswain Joe O’Sullivan, with the crew making their way towards the casualty vessel.
The lifeboat was alongside the fishing boat within ten minutes of launching and remained on scene while the vessel’s crew worked to resolve the mechanical difficulty.

Both vessels arrived safely in Castletownbere at approximately 5.20pm, bringing the callout to a successful conclusion.
The Castletownbere RNLI crew involved in the operation were John Paul Downey, Dave O’Donovan (Mechanic), Will Power, Joe O’Sullivan (Coxswain), Seamus Harrington, Sean O’Sullivan and Johnny Orpen.
