Crew members quickly launched and made best speed to the location in challenging conditions, with strong gusting winds and heavy rain.

On arrival, the crew found the casualty vessel already under tow by another vessel. After confirming there were no persons on board, the Coast Guard rib escorted both vessels safely to a nearby mooring in Monkstown.

A spokesperson for Crosshaven Coast Guard said:

'A big thank you to the assisting vessel for their prompt actions'.

'As always, if you’re heading out on the water, please ensure your vessel is well prepared for the conditions and that you carry appropriate safety equipment'.

'Remember if you see someone in difficulty or think they may be in difficulty immediately dial 112/999 and ask for the Irish Coast Guard it could save a life'.
