Crosshaven Coast Guard unit were tasked by Valentia Coast Guard today (Saturday 30 August), after a member of the public reported two kite surfers who appeared to be in difficulty off Fort Carlisle.

Unit members who were attending a local fundraiser held by Crosshaven Fire & Rescue, proceeded with caution to the two kite surfers as a small craft warning was in place at the time of the call out.
After quickly locating the kite surfers, one kite surfer was taken on board the Coast Guard vessel due to safety concerns and possible exhaustion and the second kite surfer was escorted safely ashore to Loughbeg beach.
Remember: If you're in difficulty on or near the water—or if you see someone in trouble—dial 999 or 112 and ask for the Coast Guard.
