For the third time in three days, Crosshaven RNLI volunteers quickly arrived at the station and launched their Atlantic 85 class inshore lifeboat within within 12 minutes of the launch request.

The casualty yacht with 8 persons onboard had suffered steering failure.

The lifeboat crew battled 3 Metre swells to reach the casualty vessel.

On arrival, the crew immediately established a stern tow and began the slow journey back to Crosshaven arriving at 5pm.

The vessel and crew were safely berthed at Cork Boatyard Marina, before the lifeboat returned to station at 5:30pm. The lifeboat was declared ready for service once more at 6:10pm.

Remember: If you're in difficulty on or near the water—or if you see someone in trouble—dial 999 or 112 and ask for the Coast Guard.
