Just before 5pm, Enniskillen RNLI’s inshore lifeboat Ted Dawber was tasked by Belfast Coastguard to assist a boat carrying two people. Weather conditions were favourable, with south-easterly winds at Force 3 and good visibility across the lough.

The volunteer crew quickly located the vessel near Lusty Beg Island. The boat had suffered electrical failure, leaving it unable to continue safely. While both individuals onboard were unharmed, the situation required assistance to prevent further risk.

After assessing the circumstances, the lifeboat’s helm decided the safest course of action was to tow the vessel to a secure mooring at Muckross Bay. Once ashore, the two occupants were supported by the local Lough Erne Coastguard team.

Following the successful operation, the lifeboat crew returned to station, ready to respond to any further emergencies.

Speaking following the call out, Stephen Ingram, Enniskillen RNLI Helm, advised all boat users: ‘‘As we come into the busy summer season, when more people are making the most of our waterways, we would ask all water users to carry out regular maintenance to their vessels and have a means of calling for assistance if you find yourself in trouble. If you see someone or something in trouble on the water or are in difficulties yourself the number to dial is: 999 or 112 and ask for the Coastguard.’’
