The incident occurred north of Two Mile Gate on the Clare shoreline, a busy stretch of the inland waterway popular with recreational boat users during the summer season. The vessel, carrying one person on board, was reported to be drifting south when Coast Guard volunteers arrived on scene.

Weather and lake conditions at the time allowed the crew to safely establish a tow. A tow line was connected to the casualty vessel before it was escorted back to Killaloe Harbour. With the assistance of a shore team, the cruiser was safely secured alongside without incident.

No injuries were reported during the operation.

The call-out marks the second incident attended by the Killaloe Coast Guard unit within a 24-hour period, highlighting the continued demand on volunteer emergency response crews operating on Ireland’s inland waterways as boating activity increases heading into the summer months.

Boaters are being reminded to ensure engines and onboard equipment are properly maintained before setting out and to carry suitable means of communication in the event of an emergency.

In the event of an emergency on the water or along the coast, members of the public are advised to dial 112 or 999 and ask for the Coast Guard.
