Lough Neagh Rescue Assists Two After Jet Ski Breakdown Near Maghery

Lough Neagh Rescue was tasked at 6:26pm on Monday evening following reports of a broken-down jet ski with two people on board in the Maghery area of Lough Neagh.

On arrival, the volunteer crew quickly located the casualty vessel and established that the jet ski had become disabled after weeds became wrapped around its impeller, preventing it from operating correctly.

Both occupants were found safe and well. Crucially, they were wearing lifejackets and had a mobile phone with them, enabling them to raise the alarm promptly and ensuring assistance could be dispatched without delay.

The two casualties were transferred safely aboard the rescue boat while the jet ski was taken under tow alongside and returned safely to shore.

This incident serves as an important reminder of the value of being properly prepared before heading onto the water. Always wear a suitable lifejacket or buoyancy aid, carry a fully charged mobile phone in a waterproof pouch, and let someone know where you are going and when you expect to return.
