Portrush RNLI launched to reports of an ill casualty on a vessel off Portrush

Portrush All weather Lifeboat was requested to launch by Belfast Coastguard this afternoon (Saturday) to reports of a person taken ill on a vessel 10 miles north of Portrush.

The launch request was received at 1.14 pm and launched 1.28pm pm into near perfect weather condition, good visibility, and a smooth sea. The crew arrived on scene at 1.44pm. When the ALB arrived on scene the casualty was assessed by a volunteer crew member who is also a doctor. The casualty was then transferred to the ALB and brought to Portrush Harbour.


The casualty was then transferred over to the care of The waiting Coastguard


Judy Nelson Volunteer Press Officer said:


‘We are fortunate that on this shout we had a volunteer crew member who is also a doctor. He was able to quickly assess the casualty and recommended a trip to hospital for further assessment.


The ALB and her volunteer crew returned to station at 2.20pm.
