The callout was received from MRSC Valentia, who quickly coordinated the emergency response and tasked local coast guard units in response to the reported incident.

A crew of three volunteers launched immediately following the alert and made best speed to the stricken vessel, navigating quickly to the scene in order to assess the situation and provide assistance as safely and efficiently as possible.

Working alongside colleagues from Guileen Coast Guard, the team worked carefully to successfully refloat the grounded vessel before towing it safely back to the pontoon in Aghada, bringing the incident to a safe and successful conclusion.

The Irish Coast Guard is reminding the public that if you find yourself in difficulty on the water, or if you see someone else in danger, you should immediately dial 112 or 999, or make contact on VHF Channel 16 and ask for the Irish Coast Guard. Acting quickly could save a life.
