The vessel was perilously close to being wrecked on the rocks on the northwest side of the harbour, with the individual still onboard.

Recognising the severity of the situation and the extreme weather conditions, the decision was made to deploy the most experienced members of the unit. Three seasoned Coxswains and one deputy Coxswain were selected for the mission. The team was promptly launched from the Castletownshend slipway aboard the Unit Delta RHIB.

Upon reaching the scene, the Coast Guard crew acted swiftly and efficiently. Their primary goal was to secure the safety of the person onboard the distressed vessel, along with his loyal four-legged companion. Demonstrating exceptional skill and coordination, the team managed to bring both the individual and his dog safely ashore.

Once on land, the rescued individuals were taken to the Coast Guard station for immediate medical assessment. They were provided with dry clothing and towels to alleviate the effects of exposure to the cold and wet conditions. The Coast Guard personnel ensured that both the man and his dog were comfortable and cared for until a friend arrived to collect them.

The successful rescue operation during Storm Bram is a testament to the dedication and professionalism of the Toe Head/Glandore Coast Guard Unit. Their quick response and expert handling of the situation undoubtedly prevented a potentially tragic outcome.
