BANTRY, Co Cork - Bantry Inshore Search & Rescue Association (BISRA) have responded to three separate maritime incidents over the past fortnight, assisting vessels in difficulty in waters around Bantry Bay and West Cork.

According to information released by the unit on Tuesday, 9 June, the callouts involved vessels requiring assistance off Lousy Island, within Bantry Inner Harbour and in Glengarriff Inner Harbour.
On each occasion, Bantry Lifeboat was tasked by MRSC Valentia, with operations coordinated through Valentia Coastguard Radio. The volunteer crew responded to all three incidents, helping to ensure the safety of those involved and bringing each situation to a satisfactory conclusion.
The incidents highlight the important role played by community rescue boat CRBI units in supporting maritime safety along Ireland's coastline, working alongside the Irish Coast Guard and other emergency services when required.
Bantry Lifeboat remains available to respond to maritime emergencies throughout Bantry Bay and the surrounding coastal waters as part of the Community Rescue Boats Ireland network.
The unit is reminding all water users that in the event of an emergency at sea or along the coast, assistance can be requested by calling 999 or 112 and asking for the Coast Guard, or by making a distress call on VHF Channel 16.
