Corrib Mask Search and Rescue Volunteers Tasked to Search for Missing Kayakers on Lough Corrib

On Sunday, 2 August, Corrib Mask Search and Rescue (CMSAR) was tasked by the Irish Coast Guard to reports of missing kayakers on Lough Corrib, near Headford.

Following the request from the Coast Guard, CMSAR volunteers responded immediately and deployed to the Headford area to commence search operations alongside other emergency services.

Shortly after arriving on scene, the crew was stood down following confirmation that the kayakers had been located safe and well.

CMSAR would like to acknowledge the support and cooperation of all agencies involved, including Rescue 115, Galway Civil Defence and members of the local community who assisted during the incident.

The successful outcome highlights the importance of a rapid multi-agency response and the vital role played by volunteer rescue services.

CMSAR reminds everyone enjoying activities on or near the water to always plan ahead, wear appropriate safety equipment and carry a means of calling for help.
