At 1:17 pm on Sunday 28 December, Sligo Bay RNLI were tasked by the Irish Coast Guard following a call from a member of the public who had noticed clothing left unattended for some time at the swimming pool area at Deadman's Point in Rosses Point.

The volunteer crew assembled and launched at 1.27pm and carried out an extensive search of the area. They were joined on scene by Rescue 118.
Some of our lifeboat crew were also on shore at the swimming pool area and were joined by An Garda Siochana.
Thankfully less than an hour later the person came back to collect their clothing. Upon confirmation that they were the owner if the clothing, the lifeboat crew were stood down and returned to shore to wash down the boat and refuel ready for service.
This was a happy ending but also a great reminder to everyone to please dial 112 or 999 if you this someone may be in difficulty as we always prefer to be stood down than arrive too late.
