The unit's volunteers quickly responded to the call out with the Rib and D Class lifeboats, Land Search team and Drone team tasked to the area.

Whilst en route to the incident the Coast Guard team were stood down after confirming that the initial call was a hoax.

Every hoax call takes up the precious time of the Coast Guard and other emergency services and prevents someone who really needs immediate help from getting it.

Remember: If you're in difficulty on or near the water—or if you see someone in trouble—dial 999 or 112 and ask for the Coast Guard.
