Sligo Bay RNLI volunteers launched on Wednesday night after reports of a person in the Garavogue River, joining a major multi-agency search involving the Irish Coast Guard, Rescue 118, An Garda Síochána and the Fire Service. The incident was later confirmed to be a hoax, prompting the RNLI to remind the public that false emergency calls can divert vital rescue resources from genuine incidents.

Killaloe Coast Guard unit were tasked at 3:20pm on Sunday afternoon (31 August) to a possible person in the water in the Ardnacrusha area.
