Emergency services were mobilised in the early hours of Saturday morning following reports of a person entering the water in Waterford City.

Waterford City River Rescue was tasked by the Irish Coast Guard alongside a multi-agency response that included Waterford City Fire Service, the National Ambulance Service and An Garda Síochána.
The rescue organisation launched its rescue boat and crews responded to the scene. However, the team was stood down shortly after launch when the incident was successfully brought to a conclusion by members of An Garda Síochána.
Waterford City River Rescue thanked all agencies involved in the response, as well as the Marine Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC), which coordinated the incident.
The organisation also extended its best wishes to the person involved, wishing them a speedy recovery.
Following the incident, Waterford City River Rescue reiterated the importance of contacting emergency services immediately when a person is seen in difficulty on or near the water.
"Early notification is critical in water-related emergencies and ensures the appropriate services can be dispatched without delay," the organisation said.
Members of the public are reminded that if they witness anyone in difficulty on rivers, lakes or coastal waters, they should call 999 or 112 and ask for the Irish Coast Guard. The Coast Guard will then coordinate and deploy the emergency services required.
Rescue personnel also stressed the importance of never assuming that someone else has already made the emergency call.
