Ballinskelligs Inshore Rescue Assists in Missing Person Search Following Busy Day of Operations

Ballinskelligs Inshore Rescue was tasked late on Saturday night to assist in the search for a reported missing person in the Ballinskelligs Beach area.
The volunteer rescue unit was paged by Valentia Marine Rescue Sub Centre (MRSC) at 10:47 pm and responded alongside An Garda Síochána and the Iveragh Coast Guard to conduct a search of the area.
Thankfully, the incident concluded with a positive outcome, allowing the rescue crew to stand down after a short search before returning to base.
The evening callout capped a busy day for the volunteers, who had earlier provided safety cover for the Hardman Ireland Triathlon in Waterville. Ballinskelligs Inshore Rescue worked alongside Derrynane Inshore Rescue CRBI to help ensure the safety of competitors throughout the event.
The rescue service continues to remind the public that if they believe someone is in difficulty on land or at sea, they should immediately dial 999 or 112 and ask for the appropriate emergency service. Emergency control centres will then coordinate and task the relevant rescue resources as required.
Ballinskelligs Inshore Rescue's volunteer crew remains available to respond to incidents 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, providing vital assistance and reassurance to the local community and visitors alike. As the unit's message emphasises: "If in doubt, make the call. Don't expect someone else to."
