Newcastle and Kilkeel RNLI responded to a false alarm with good intent last night after flares were sighted off the County Down coast.

Carrybridge Lifeboat Station is proud to announce that six of its dedicated shore crew members have completed their shore side assessments. Two boat crew have also completed Tier 2 assessments which signify they are fully trained boat crew, a significant milestone in their lifesaving journey.

During a routine crew training exercise in challenging Force 3–4 south-easterly conditions, Lough Neagh Rescue volunteers spotted an upturned boat near the shore in Kinnego Bay, raising immediate concern as nobody appeared to be nearby.

Matthew Nelson, a Carrybridge local, who has volunteered with Carrybridge Lifeboat for the past five and a half years, has successfully completed his Navigator Pass Out. This is a new role under the RNLI’s new OCF competency structure.

Galway RNLI is looking to fill a number of volunteer roles including new trainee lifeboat crew, additional Launch Authority positions and a new Lifeboat Operations Manager.
